On Life 225 – Day of doing good – June, 15, 2018

Our Muslim Brethren celebrates Eid al-Fitr nowadays and it is my pleasure to congratulate them all in Egypt, the Arab gulf and the world hoping for the good and happiness of all Egyptians and peace for our Egypt.
The days of life go by along with its joys and sorrows, brightness and gloominess, successes and obstacles. There are some life stages where we stop to see if we are to overcome it or not or whether we should stop to change some things so that we can go on our life journey according to the humane values God created us to live a happy honorable life. This is the real challenge in our lives. One of those life stops is feasts.
Feasts give us a chance to live a dream- fulfilling life; where joy and happiness, cordiality and empathy, mercy and forgiveness are offered to others. So feasts become days from which man can learn the true meaning of life, taste how making others happy lets happiness sneak into his heart. Thus, some let the feast be a day to make others happy. Someone mentioned that the feast’s day is a “Day of doing good” and this name was given by his wonderful father who taught and trained him on having such day. He keeps recounting how he spent the feast’s night in preparing bags of food and clothes. On the following day, he used to get up so early when he went with his father to visit some families then he went on other visits where he found a smile in the eyes of those whom he visited and listened to what they say and he did not comprehend, yet let happiness flow to his heart. The last visit was always pain to a crippled man and though his dad did not offer the man anything from what they have prepared, he used to be so glad when he paid that visit.
He once asked his father about what made him happy when visiting that old man. His dad told him that the old man had lost his wife and no one of his relatives paid him a visit since long thus he became a lone man, his father proceeded, “Since I knew his story, I decided to visit him regularly as he needed no money or anything else, but rather what is more precious from money, that is, love and cordiality. So, remember, my son, to give each person what you can offer especially on feasts. Be keen on making others happy by offering a friendly smile, kind words or something you own to those who don’t own.
Indeed, a feast is a day to do good where good deeds are offered ceaselessly in every time and place for all people. It is a day for offering thanks giving to God in the image of deeds and behaviors that are full of love, goodness and mercy for all people whom God create. This is how life should be!!

Many happy returns
