His Highness Prince Hasan Bin Talal, Chairman of Trustee Board of the Royal Academy of Religious studies, and Vatican Pope Francis I, have confirmed in a meeting at the Vatican the “need to work in unison for a joint cause in the name of human dignity.” The pope expressed his “concern about the widening gap between rich and poor”, expressing his “sorrow at the current world situation, which is more concerned for money than for humans.” The meeting encompassed the exponential growth in the number of refugees who are leaving their country due to continuous violence during the past few months, as His Highness recalled the pope’s words: “participating in religious work opens a window overlooking the world.” This indicates a pressing need to consolidate dialogue between followers of religions. Prince Al-Hasan said, “In this spirit, we renounce the eviction of Christians from Mosul”. During the meeting, he presented a suggestion to build hope in a better future for mankind and for coming generations, through active steps, including most significantly calling world countries to meet to draft the wording of development goals after 2015, encouraging religious leaders who have an impact in various areas of the world to work together to consolidate the concept of “human dignity” and prioritize it over all development efforts. His Highness concluded the meeting thus: “His Holiness, with his renowned humility, wisdom and compassion for others, is the best specimen to emulate”, adding, “We must all work to build a new humane system to affirm the right to decent life for humans, regardless of the impact on economic growth or political powers.
