His Grace Anba Ermia, the General Bishop and President of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, and Assistant Secretary-General of the Egyptian Family House, participated in the monthly El-Hanager Cultural Forum titled “Ramadan and Love of the Homeland.” The event was organized by the Theater Sector under the direction of Hisham Atwa, on Saturday evening, March 14, 2026, at the El-Hanager Arts Center, led by artist Shady Sorour, as part of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s Ramadan activities.
During his speech, His Grace Anba Ermia emphasized that the month of Ramadan embodies the values of love for one’s homeland. He noted that this period coincides with the Great Lent in the Coptic Orthodox Church, highlighting that fasting and prayer should go hand in hand with compassion, supporting the needy, and helping others in various ways.
His Grace added that the Egyptian people are distinguished by their spirit of solidarity and charitable work. He noted the widespread “Tables of Ramadan” across the country and the friendly exchange of food and drink among neighbors, creating an atmosphere of love and joy that is unique to Egypt.
He further stressed that Egypt is a blessed and protected country and will remain so, a land of goodness and love, enriched by its long history, authentic culture, and enduring principles.
The forum was moderated by literary critic Dr. Nahed Abdel Hamid, founder and director of the forum, who welcomed the audience and emphasized that Ramadan brings a special spiritual atmosphere. She described it as an opportunity to reflect on human values and strengthen feelings of love and belonging to the homeland, noting that this national spirit is created by the character and soul of the Egyptian people, where the crescent embraces the cross, and mosques stand alongside churches—thus nurturing love for the homeland.
The event included musical performances by artist Maher Mahmoud and his band, along with the recitation of several poetic verses, all met with enthusiastic audience interaction.
The forum also featured interventions from academic and media figures, adding further cultural enrichment and stimulating discussion on national issues.
