An official statement, Ministry of Interior reveals the details of St. Catherine’s Monastery attack

In an official statement, the Ministry of the Interior revealed the details of St. Catherine monastery security ambushes shooting.

Police media official said that a number of armed people in the mountainous area facing the security ambush of St. Catherine Monastery in South Sinai shoot the troops in the ambush.

For their part, the security forces fired at them until the situation was controlled and some of them were injured and were forced to flee. One of them left the firearm with “automatic rifle” and several shots in order to smuggle the injured members.

The incident resulted the martyrdom of a police officer and injury of three others. Police forces moved to the location of the incident and continued their efforts to prosecute and apprehend the perpetrators.
