								Ambassador Ahmed Bakr, Ambassador of Egypt to Gabon, laid the cornerstone of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Gabon capital Libreville, the first Coptic church in Central Africa, in the presence of Anba Antonios Marcos, Bishop of Africa of the Coptic Orthodox, and a number of Gabonese officials, Members of the Egyptian community in Gabon and the media.
The Egyptian ambassador stressed in his speech that the building of the church is a symbol of the unity of the nation’s Muslims and Copts, emphasizing the importance of the principle of citizenship and countering terrorism. He also congratulated the Gabonese government on the role it plays in opening a national dialogue that includes all segments on the basis of promoting the values of citizenship.
