Hegumen Fr. Ruweis Marcus, General Deputy of the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral, official spokesman of the Church in Alexandria, has announced that His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, will be paying a pastoral, spiritual visit to the province / governorate on Saturday, for a period of 4 days, accompanied by his private secretarial staff, including Fr. Angelos Isaac and Fr. Aminos Adel.
He clarified in a press interview on Friday that the visit of His Holiness to Alexandria this time will be dedicated to Coptic Churches in the East of town, as he will convene with the priests of the sector, wives of priests, and female and male stewards in spiritual and pastoral meetings, merely to discuss spiritual ministry in churches.
He also pointed out that Coptic Orthodox in Alexandria are currently fasting for the Virgin St. Mary “Mother of Light”, which commenced on 7th August, to last 15 days, intercepted by prayers and Masses to the day of the Virgin Mary’s Feast, which coincides with 22nd August.
All churches in the province will be hosting Holy Mass every morning, and sermons, hymns and religious praise in the evenings.
