His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, headed on Monday evening the Vespers prayer of the “Transfiguration feast” at the St. Mary’s Church in Cleopatra, Alexandria, delivering a spiritual homily entitled “Heaven on Earth”, meaning that we must lead a celestial life, with our feet planted firmly on the ground, through the following criteria:
Heaven on Earth in tangible matters:
- The Church is a piece of heaven
- The Holy Bible is the directory of heaven
- Priesthood is a companion to heaven
- Monasticism is an image of heaven
Heaven on Earth in abstract matters:
- High Mass is a journey to heaven
- Praise and hymnals are the language of heaven
- Penitence is a step towards heaven
- Stewardship and the labor of love is a call to heaven
We must rejoice in a celestial life and lead it, during our sojourn on earth.
His holiness blessed all attendees following Vespers.
