The Hungarian Ambassador in Cairo attends the ceremony held by the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center with the participation of St. Angela Choir of Budapest, Hungary. On Monday, October, 29, 2018 evening, the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center held a ceremony for St. Angela Choir of Budapest, under the aegis of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and his partner in the liturgy, Bishop Ermia, the General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center in the framework of cooperation between the Center and Hungary, in the presence of Dr. Péter Kveck, the Hungarian Ambassador in Egypt, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Fathy Khalifa, Head of Department of Morale Affairs of Armed Forces, and Priest Angelos Ishaq as a representative for His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.
In his opening word, Bishop Ermia, the General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, asserted the deep relations developed between Egypt, led by President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, and leaders of Hungary Country in various fields. He noted that the ceremony is held in the framework of the cultural and touristic exchange between Egypt and Hungary, and amidst the celebrations held by the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center for the tenth anniversary of establishing the Center and the seventh anniversary of launching ME Sat Channel.
His Grace Bishop Ermia, the General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, expressed his thanks to St. Angela Choir, to the Hungarian ambassador, and to all the participants of the ceremony, noting that the Hungarian choir is visiting Egypt for the first time. Last year, Anba Rewis Choir travelled to Hungary, where it performed in two ceremonies in the framework of cooperative and friendly relations between the two sides.
Bishop Ermia added that the Hungarian choir performed a collection of hymns and tunes which date back to various ages and were all enjoyed by the attendees. Besides, a bunch of tunes and music pieces of Hungarian heritage were performed. Bishop Ermia presented a souvenir to Mrs. Gabriella Shaymen, the conductor of St. Angela Choir, which is an icon of the Holy Family in Egypt.
The ceremony was attended by Andre Benzo, as a representative of the Italian Ambassador in Cairo, Revered Priest Refaat Fekry, Head of Evangelical Synod of the Nile, as a representative of Reverend Priest Andre Zaki, head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, Father Timothy Kapsalus, as a representative of Bishop Nicola Antonio, Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church in Egypt, MP Marian Azer and MP Manal Maher. At the beginning of the ceremony, the Hungarian choir chanted the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt amid the interaction of the audience. Then they chanted the national anthem of the Republic of Hungary before being engaged in chanting a group of tunes in both English and Coptic Languages.
