In celebration of the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, His Eminence Bishop Ermia, General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, visited the Egyptian Dar Al-Ifta on Thursday evening, March 19, 2026, to offer congratulations on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent and the announcement of the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
He was warmly received by His Eminence Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, and Dr. Salama Gomaa Dawood, President of Al-Azhar University, in a friendly meeting.
During the visit, it was announced that the Shawwal crescent for this year had been sighted, making Friday, March 20, 2026, the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Egypt. Participants in the meeting emphasized the significance of this joyous occasion in strengthening the national bonds among the people of Egypt.
For his part, Bishop Ermia expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all the people of Egypt on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, stressing the importance of fostering values of unity and love among all segments of society during this blessed occasion.
