South Sinai Governor, General Khaled Fouda met on Wednesday with Metropolitan Damiadios, Archbishop of Roman Orthodox church in Sinai, and abbot of St. Catherine Monastery, to check on the monks after the attack on the “gate” ambust yesterday.
Metropolitan of Saint Catherine expressed his happiness that he is in Egypt, stressing that he feels safe and secure, and there are many countries with security problems but in Egypt he feels the greatest security, he directed his thanks and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, for caring himself, the army and the police to increased security around the Monastery of Saint Catherine with nomads of South Sinai. He called on the peoples of the world to come visit Saint Catherine Monastery and all of Egypt archaeological sites.The bishop and the monks expressed their love for Egypt and stressed that Egypt is their country.
On the other hand, the governor and the security director, Major General Ahmed Tayel, inspected the area around the monastery and the security ambusts and reassured that security is well positioned and ready.
The Archbishop also expressed dismay toward the internal and external media channels, for broadcasting wrong informations that have nothing to do with the truth, and appealed to the media to be accurate before broadcasting or publishing any news.
