In an effort to promote the spirit of national unity and exchange greetings on religious occasions, His Grace Bishop Ermia, General Bishop and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, paid a congratulatory visit to Ain Shams University on Sunday, May 24, 2026, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
At the historic university, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, received Bishop Ermia and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs. The meeting took place in an atmosphere filled with love and sincere fraternity that unites all Egyptians.
The visit reflects sincere values of tolerance, citizenship, and national cohesion among Egyptians, and highlights the deep relationship between the Coptic Orthodox Church and Egypt’s national and academic institutions.
During the visit, Bishop Ermia expressed his great joy, stating that exchanging holiday greetings among citizens of one nation is a humanitarian and national duty before being a social tradition. He emphasized that Egypt, with its rich history, teaches the world how Muslims and Christians can live together in genuine love and sincere solidarity under one sky and on one land. He added that Ain Shams University represents a leading national academic institution, and that this visit carries a clear message: national unity is not merely a slogan but a daily practice embodied in such meaningful encounters.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for this kind visit, praising its noble humanitarian and national meanings. He affirmed that such meetings embody the spirit of national unity and reinforce values of love that bring Egyptians together in both good times and hardships.
He further noted that Ain Shams University carries a mission that goes beyond education and scientific research, serving as an inclusive space where citizens from all backgrounds meet in mutual respect and appreciation. He added that receiving Bishop Ermia on this blessed occasion is a true honor for the university and confirms that the values of coexistence and national fraternity are deeply rooted in the Egyptian identity. He stressed that the university will always remain open to anyone who carries love for Egypt and concern for the unity of its people.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, praying that it may bring goodness, blessings, and prosperity to the nation and its people.
